What is a four-hands massage?
A four-hands massage is exactly what it sounds like: two therapists working on you at the same time, usually mirroring each other's strokes. Because your brain can't track two sets of hands, it stops anticipating and simply lets go — which is why people describe it as the most relaxing massage they've had.
What to expect
- Sessions run 60–90 minutes and cost roughly 1.7–2× a standard massage.
- Therapists coordinate: long synchronized strokes down the back, then one on the shoulders while the other works the legs.
- Warm oil is standard; ask for unscented if you're sensitive.
Trying it at home
Two people, a warm room, a towel-covered bed and a good oil are enough. Agree on a leader whose strokes the other mirrors. Start with the back and go slowly — rhythm matters more than technique.
